Save The Beach Flats Garden

We believe that the Beach Flats Community Garden is a vital community resource. Loss, fragmentation or relocation of the garden would irreparably damage this thriving and unique space of food production and community engagement. We ask the City of Santa Cruz and the Santa Cruz Seaside Company to work together with members of the community to find a long-term solution for keeping the entirety of the garden open as a public space.

1,729 Ms Clarissa F. It's a perfect example of what a community space should look like. We should strive to create more spaces like these. You cannot simply move a garden that has been cared for and cultivated for decades. May 15, 2019

1,726 Ms Alexandra K. Because it is a place that adds value to the neighborhood that could never be quantified. It creates a space for people to feel at home and to enjoy the company of their community. It is beautiful and is a true feature of the neighborhood. Getting rid of it would be doing a disservice not only to the community members but to the city as a whole. Apr 25, 2019
1,725 Mx. Em I. For over 20 years, Beach Flats Community Garden has been a Mesoamerican cultural epicenter and resource to assuage food insecurity in Santa Cruz: as a town with comparably little cultural diversity and the county with the second-highest poverty rate in California, the resources for both issues are overwhelmingly necessary, and can be found right here in Beach Flats. Apr 24, 2019
